Silver Lake Sand Dunes

Silver Lake Sand Dunes

Zone headed up to Silver Lake State Park on the west coast of Michigan for a Memorial Day trip at the sand dunes. For those that haven’t seen the dunes, it’s something worth checking out, a spectacle of man and machine (plenty of women there as well) enjoying recess on the giant 450-acre sand box. We headed up there in our new 2011 Chevy Silverado 2500HD to enjoy the weekend with some friends and put the new 5” suspension lift to the test. All types of rigs made it out to the dunes from the stock pickups to monsterous rigs, crazy minivans, and even a car or two. Everyone came out to show off the newest customizations to their rides after a long Michigan winter to wrench on them. The Zone truck handled the terrain with ease with the tires aired down to 10psi. We cruised around the park and raced up test hill. While we were up there for the beginning of the weekend while it was cold, windy and overcast, the rest of the weekend cleared up and made for a great Memorial Day out on the dunes. With plenty of patriotic paint jobs and American flags flying, it easy to remember why we celebrate this holiday in memory of those who have fought and died for this great country. Thank you to all the service men and women who have fought and continue to fight for our freedom!
