Project MJ being prepped for SEMA

It seems like deja vu, the MJ stripped down, parts strewn throughout the R&D shop, a quickly approaching deadline and long build list left to finish. After a 6 week scramble back in May-June to gather parts and build our 1990 Jeep Comanche in time for this year’s Ultimate Adventure, the rig, and its drivers, were put to the test during the week long journey traversing over 1000 miles, some half dozen trails, and scorching 100+ days. The trip gave the guys from Zone the opportunity to test out new prototype parts from a long arm suspension, skidplates, and bumpers to fabrication accessories, gussets and brackets. Some of the parts worked extremely well, other parts we’ve modified or scrapped altogether. Many of the shortcuts that were taken on the initial build due to time constraints (i.e. vehicle interior, auxiliary lighting, functioning electrical system, inner fenders, stock steering, exhaust pumping CO into the cab, and general painting of parts) are finally being addressed after an extremely busy show season and company growth that limited available time to work on the rig.

Now in the final week before we hit the road for that long 30+ hour drive to Vegas, Project MJ is once again being rebuilt to showcase in our booth (#30170 South Hall, Upper Level) at the 2011 SEMA Show for all the world to see. We’ll have more coverage as well as a video in the coming days as the Comanche once again comes to life. If you’re heading out for the show in Vegas Nov.1-4, make sure to stop by the booth to check it out!
